What I did about the clinic.
I asked for my records in the April.
It takes about four weeks and it costs nothing and I did not tell anybody I was doing it.
And the note from the ninth of March, 2022 is there, typed up, about two thirds of the way down a page.
It says: FH: nil of note, both partners. Confirmed by Mrs Lennox.

I had been telling myself for six months that I had said something vague in a room, in passing, and that a doctor had written it down generously.
What is actually on that page is my surname, on a line, next to a thing that is not true, because a woman in a hurry answered a question that was not hers.
And on the next line, which I did not expect, it says: Mr Lennox declined to add.
She noticed.
