In 2000, she and her then-husband Jim Threapleton welcomed their daughter, Mia. But before Mia had even turned one, Kate and Jim’s marriage was already coming to an end.
Life moved quickly after that.
Kate fell in love with director Sam Mendes, married him in 2003, and later that same year welcomed her second child, Joe.
Suddenly, Kate was raising two children whose stories had begun in two completely different relationships — Mia with Jim, and Joe with Sam.
For a while, that became her new family chapter. But Kate and Sam eventually separated in 2010 after seven years of marriage.
And years later, there’s an interesting connection between the two children pictured here.
Both grew up and found their own way into the creative world. Mia became an actress, while Joe has explored acting, writing and music.
